Škocjanski Zatok Nature Reserve

Škocjanski Zatok is a semi-saline marsh that once surrounded the town of Koper. It was declared a nature reserve in 1998 for its rich flora and fauna. In recent years, the natural environment has been intensively rehabilitated. A visitor centre, observatories and several other support facilities have been built. All of them are designed in accordance with sustainable construction principles and complement the nature trails through the reserve’s natural landscape. Wood is the predominant material. Most of the wooden elements are protected with Silvanolin®.
