Franja Partisan Hospital

The Slovenian partisan war hospital Franja operated in Dolenji Novaki near Cerkno in the barely accessible Pasice Gorge during World War II, from 1943 to 1945, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Two years after the devastating storm in 2007, which caused extensive damage to the hospital’s facilities and infrastructure, the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the wooden barracks and buildings in the complex began, using the wood preservative Silvanolin® to protect the wood.
